Andrzej Wroz was on the Sandvik Beach on the Southern Peninsula in Iceland after a surf session on April 25 and noticed a small wooden boat. This was boat 234202 that was originally decorated by students of teacher Adam Smith at Hood River Middle School in Hood River, Oregon USA during the 2022-2023 school year. The boat was discovered and reported a week earlier on the same Sandvik Beach by Sif Hjaltdal Pálsdóttir on April 18, 2025. Sif left it behind and Andrzej found it again on April 25, 2025.

The small boat was deployed by a team of scientists onboard the Polarstern icebreaker in September 2023 from the North Pole on the Transpolar Current, and then south to Iceland (view current map).
