Buoys and Boats on Sea Ice
Locate Your Boat on the Arctic Ocean Map
Use the table below to find out when, where, and how each school/organization's boats were deployed on the Arctic Sea Ice. We suggest using the 'find' feature on your keyboard (Control+F) to search for your school/organization.

Then view the live map below the table to identify where the boats and their parent buoy may be today by selecting the year and vessel/location of deployment using the check boxes.
How to Use This Map

Using the chart above, figure out which year and deployment your wooden boat was part of. Then below, find your deployment boat (colored boat); select and click the box to the left of the colored boat. The parent buoy track should show up on the interactive map; zoom in and out to locate it.
Then, click on the colored dot (circle) on the map to see an image pop up from the deployment. Follow the connected colored line (buoy path) to the current location of the parent buoy.
